There are TWO TASKS for this round. You MUST do BOTH of them. There is a different cover art for each option, ensure you use the correct one for the correct option.
#TASK1 – Silent Movie
For this performance we want you to create the soundtrack to a short silent film. You may not use any discernible words.
- Contestants will be provided with a Video collab which they must join and sing a soundtrack to. They may use no discernable words from any language. You will be tagged on smule with your collab. These collabs will be opened in the first 24 hours of this round. You can view the film you will be using at the bottom of this page.
- Example of acceptable sounds are as follows
- Ahh
- Oooh
- Dooo
- Beee
- Ay
- Eeee
- Ha
- You MAY use the melodies of existing music from any time period.
- All sounds on your entry MUST be created with your MOUTH. No snaps, finger-clicks, stamps etc..
- You should create music for the entirety of the video.
- You are NOT ALLOWED to add video layers to the collab, all your joins MUST be audio.

- We will only open the video collab once. With iOS it is possible to hide your joins and start again. If you are an android user, if you need to restart, you may need to sweet talk someone into hiding your joins!
- We suggest that you tackle this entry first so you can overcome any technical issues early on in the round.
- Judges will be assessing how well your music fits with the action on screen and helps create the mood, emotion and storytelling of the film..
#TASK2- Irving Berlin
For the second challenge, we would like you to sing an Irving Berlin song. Irving Berlin was one of the greatest songwriters of American History. Writing for nearly 70 years, Berlin wrote a heck of a lot of songs which have been reworked over time by artists such as Frank Sinatra and Lady Gaga. Now it’s your turn! Put the full force of your creativity to this task.
- You can sing any version of any song written (or co-written) by Irving Berlin.
- Any backing track allowed (please write song sung in the description or comments)
