This document will tell you everything you need to know for Round 4. Ensure that you read it carefully before asking any questions. Make sure you also read all the rules as well.
Please note that from this round you will only be judged by two judges. This means that if you clock up any penalty points they are going to hurt a lot more! With this in mind, please pay careful attention to the submission and round criteria. Double check everything!

Well done for making it until Round 4! We know we have put you through your paces, and if you thought it was going to get any easier, well welcome to the next challenge!
We would like you to sing a song that has been featured in a TV Show. It can be the theme tune, incidental music, music used as part of the narrative or just something in the background.
Simple? Think again. We would like you to add some dialogue from the show (you cannot make your own up, it must be actual dialogue). Judges will be listening to hear if you have used appropriate dialogue to go with the song and how effectively you have used it.
In your description, (alongside a verification link that proves this song was used in the show) you will need to write the NAME of the TV Show and the CHARACTER(s) that dialogue is spoken by. Please use the comments if you can’t fit it in.

ROUND CRITERIA
- You MUST sing a song that has been featured in TV Show.
- You must sing the version of the song featured in the show.
- LAYERS
- Minimum – 3 (You + 2)
- Maximum – Unlimited
- HARMONY
- 30 seconds of 2 Part Harmony is required
- This can be broken up into smaller parts but must total 20secs.
- For the purposes of this round, we do NOT count octaves as 2-Part Harmony
- FX
- ALLOWED: Polish, Studio, Superstudio, Indie, SF Opera,
- NOT ALLOWED: Magic, Pop, Super Pop, Double You, Super Harmony
- FOR EMBELLISHMENT ONLY: Grunge, Stardust
- Significant Lyric Changes, Lyrical additions, Medley’s, Mashups and Acapella are NOT ALLOWED
- Video entries are NOT ALLOWED
- Backing Vocals on the backing track are NOT ALLOWED
- This includes any sound made by a human voice, including sampled sounds that have been heavily processed.
- If you are unsure, please ask your mentor for verification.
- You MAY upload your own backing track to the smule songbook.
- You are NOT ALLOWED to open a Freestyle Track
- Your entry MUST be opened as a group.
- Your entry MUST be at least 2 minutes long.
- Language: English Only
- You MUST use headphones
PLEASE NOTE: Neither Judges or Mentors can approve your chosen song’s theme is valid. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure your song fits the theme.

Once you have submitted you CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING. If you do then you will be disqualified. - LOCKING IN
A member of the admin team will comment on your song once submitted to let you know that it has been accepted. Please be patient. If you submit with less than 24 hours left to go your song may not be commented on, but it will be considered locked from the point of submission.
It is not a requirement for this competition to have an active VIP status. If you are a non-vip user, please read the following information carefully.
- You may ask a mentor to open up to 3 practice songs for you to practice with.
- When you are ready to record your final version you must message a Head Judge or Admin and ask them to open the chosen song for you at least 24 HOURS prior to the round deadline. This will be opened using the ITMOfficial Smule Account.
- Please screenshot the version of the song you want them to open and give it to them.
- You will also need to ask them to close your song, make it public and tell them what to add to the description (e.g. hashtags etc) BEFORE the deadline (we recommend at least 8hrs prior). This is YOUR responsibility! Failure to do so will result in penalties and in some cases disqualification.
- Please remember people are in different time zones, and we all have busy lives, so they may not respond immediately. If you have not heard from your Mentor or Head Judge/Admin after 24 hours please message someone else.
- DO NOT leave this to the last minute. We cannot guarantee the availability of any of members of staff at the last minute.

The following will result in automatic disqualification.
- Late submission
- Failure to submit
- Someone other than yourself joining your entry
- Submitting a song opened prior to the release date of the round.
- Submitting a song you have previously sung in an audition or round.
- Changing anything once the entry has been submitted
- Breaking the rules of the competition
- Adding anyone to any chat room
- Removing anyone from any chat room
- Posting notes/polls etc in any chat room
- Deleting any notes or images (other than your own) from the chat rooms.
- Changing the settings of any chatroom
- Submitting an Original Song.
- Leaving the main chat room.
- Repeatedly not following the rules of the chat room despite warnings.
If you choose to receive critique on your song/performance, please don’t take anything personally. Whether your critique is full of praise or constructive it is only meant to help you improve and to make you a better singer.
