This document will tell you everything you need to know for Round 3. Ensure that you read it carefully before asking any questions. Make sure you also read all the rules as well.

After this round, only 10 contestants will advance. Remember we are not looking for a carbon copy performance of the original songs, we want you to put your own spin on the songs you present to us. Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any questions and make use of your mentors!
The theme for this round is MOVIES. Your song and video should reflect this theme somehow.
We suggest you study the judging criteria to understand what your judges will be looking for during the judging process. Remember our mentors are around to help guide you through the process, but they cannot verify song choices or video content for you.

- You may sing any song as long as it fits the theme of the round.
- You may sing ANY version of ANY song as long as it fits the theme of the round.
- Any genre is allowed
- LAYERS
- 1 Layer Only
- Your submission MUST be a video entry.
- You can use a straight video layer or use the audio to video feature.
- Entries without video will be disqualified.
- FX
- ALLOWED: ALL
- Use voice altering FX (e.g. Super Pop or Magic) with caution.
- Significant Lyric Changes, Medley’s, Acapella, Lyrical Additions, Mashups ARE ALLOWED
- Backing Vocals on the backing track are ALLOWED
- However, we much prefer that you used a backing track without them.
- You MAY upload your own backing track to the smule songbook.
- You are NOT ALLOWED to open a Freestyle Track
- If you choose to do acapella, please use the Blank Track provided by @ITMOfficial
- Your entry MUST be at least 2 minutes long.
- Language: ENGLISH Only
- You MUST use headphones

3 points are available for your performance on video.
- 3 points – an outstanding and creative video that fit the theme. The video will also be technically proficient (e.g. well framed, good lighting, good scenic design)
- 2 points – a good and creative video that fit the theme well.
- 1 point – video was well presented but with little narrative and could have fit the theme better.
- 0 point – the video was not well presented and contained no narrative or interest.
Video can be using the video feature or using the audio to video feature. The video does not have to feature the singer.

We would encourage you to add #smule11 and #musicvideo to your entries to get the chance to be featured on smule, but this is not mandatory. - COVER ART

Once you have submitted you CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING. If you do then you will be disqualified. - LOCKING IN
A member of the admin team will comment on your song once submitted to let you know that it has been accepted. Please be patient. If you submit with less than 24 hours left to go your song may not be commented on, but it will be considered locked from the point of submission.

- Pitch/Tone – max. 5 points
- Emotion – max. 5 points

- Video (creativity/matching theme) – max. 3 points
- -5 points for the following;
- Incorrect hashtags
- Incorrect cover art
- Not following round brief/criteria
The following will result in automatic disqualification.
- Late submission
- Failure to submit via the form
- Someone other than yourself joining your entry
- Submitting a song opened prior to the release date of the round.
- Submitting a song you have previously sung in an audition or round.
- Submitting an audio only performance
- Submitting a song with more than 1 Layer (anything other than a solo)
- Changing anything once the entry has been submitted
- Breaking the rules of the competition
- Adding anyone to any chat room
- Removing anyone from any chat room
- Posting notes/polls etc in any chat room
- Deleting any notes or images (other than your own) from the chat rooms.
- Changing the settings of any chatroom
- Submitting an Original Song.
- Leaving the main chat room.
- Repeatedly not following the rules of the chat room despite warnings.
If you receive critique on your song/performance, please don’t take anything personally. Whether your critique is full of praise or constructive it is only meant to help you improve and to make you a better singer.
