You have gone so far already and you have shown us that if you are here you have a variety of talent and creativity. We have heard you! We are giving you more creative freedom.
The Greatest Showman has been a worldwide revolution for singers and Music Theater lovers and has reminded us of the beginnings of the Theater of Variety Shows. A variety show is a combination of acts, especially musical performances and sketches. This is normally introduced by a Compère or a Master of Ceremonies ( The Creators say: “Choose yours carefully”).
Variety shows may include but not limited to magic, animals, acrobatics, juggling and ventriloquism and others. Think of this as a SHOW, time to entertain!. For example, in “Be our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, Lumiere is the Compère and his kitchen staff are the actual show that he is presenting. You can’t use this theme.
This is what we expect:
- Choose one song for your show from any Disney or Disney acquired production.
- You can choose any other songs that do not meet criteria number one and that your team wants to incorporate into your show.
- You will present your performance with the theme “Disney, the Greatest Show on Earth”
- There should be talking parts and dialogue to amount a minimum of 120 seconds of which 60 seconds must be your Compère.
- There will be a dedicated judging score for the Compère and his or her ability to “run the show”. There can only be one Compère.
- You should sing a minimum of 3 min as a team.
Remember although one of your team will be taking the lead in this show, you must all contribute equally and support your compére.

COMPARE THE COMPÉRES
0-2 Points – Where is the Compère?
3-4 Points – I think that’s the Compère!
5-6 Points – The Compère is very present. He/she is definitely leading this show and showing control of the varieties!
7-8 Points – This Compère is amazing, the assertiveness and skills leading the show are above average and is a pleasure to listen to.
9-10 Points – Wow! If Hugh Jackman got sick this Compère would replace him and put him/her out of a job! The skills are so natural and his ability to engage the audience is superb!
THE GREATEST SHOW?
0-2 Points – That was pretty “ not entertaining”
3-4 Points – “Was nice but don’t want to watch it again”
5-6 Points – “That was nice and I would watch it again”
7-8 Points – “That was so entertaining and full of excitement I want to watch it many times”
9-10 Points – “I loved this! it was action-packed, entertaining and full of fun! Is such a joy I am going to share in my social media”
You will be judged by all available judges this round. Your two judges’ scores less any penalties will be averaged and then the round specific criteria score added to find your total score.
