This document will tell you everything you need to know for The Final Showdown. Ensure that you read it carefully before asking any questions. Make sure you also read all the rules as well. You will also need to read the rules about the prizes.
Please pay careful attention to the submission and round criteria. Double check everything!

You have THREE songs to submit for the final showdown, each brief is very different. Ensure you read them thoroughly and plan your time effectively throughout the week, you can submit each song as soon as you are ready.
If you would like your songs to appear on the ITMOfficial Smule Account, please PM us the link and we can add a silent join. We recommend doing this early on in your recording stages! If you would like us to join your solo ballad you will need to open that song as a group. We cannot guarantee we can join last minute entries.

For your first song, we would like you to sing a solo ballad. Remember, although this is a one layer offering we will be expecting you to be creative. You will need to follow the following CRITERIA for this song.
- You may sing ANY version of ANY song from ANY genre as long as it is a ballad.
- You may sing ballad versions of upbeat songs
- You MAY NOT sing an upbeat version of a ballad.

Recreate
For your second song we would like you to pick one of your previous round entries (bonus rounds do not count here) and recreate it. We are expecting to hear a new twist on the previous entry. You do not have to follow that rounds rules.

Mash-Up
We would like you to create a mashup for your third song. You will need to include four different songs in your mashup. Songs must have been released by two different artists ONLY, you must have TWO songs by each artist. For example you could include Thriller and Scream by Michael Jackson, and Wannabee and Stop by the Spice Girls (you can use collaborations/duets).
You cannot use more than TWO artists and you cannot do MORE than TWO songs by each artist. If the song you picked was performed by both the artists you chose, you must assign it to one of them. You may use ANY backing track.
A successful mashup will be well structured, include overlaps, and be cohesive.

ROUND CRITERIA
- You MUST submit THREE songs, one song for each brief.
- HARMONY
- There is no harmony requirement.
- Significant Lyric Changes and Medley’s are NOT ALLOWED
- Mashups ARE ALLOWED
- Lyrical additions ARE ALLOWED
- Acapella is ALLOWED but you MUST use the Blank Track provided on the @ITMOfficial smule account.
- Video entries are NOT ALLOWED
- Backing Vocals on the backing track are NOT ALLOWED
- This includes any sound made by a human voice, including sampled sounds that have been heavily processed.
- If you are unsure, please ask your mentor for verification.
- You MAY upload your own backing track to the smule songbook.
- You are NOT ALLOWED to open a Freestyle Track
- Your entry MUST be opened as a solo or group.
- Your entry MUST be at least 2 minutes long.
- Language: English Only
- You MUST use headphones
PLEASE NOTE: Neither Judges or Mentors can approve your chosen song’s theme is valid. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure your song fits the themes.

Once you have submitted you CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING. If you do then you will be disqualified. - LOCKING IN
A member of the admin team will comment on your song once submitted to let you know that it has been accepted. Please be patient. If you submit with less than 24 hours left to go your song may not be commented on, but it will be considered locked from the point of submission.
It is not a requirement for this competition to have an active VIP status. If you are a non-vip user, please read the following information carefully.
- You may ask a mentor to open up to 3 practice songs for you to practice with.
- When you are ready to record your final version you must message a Head Judge or Admin and ask them to open the chosen song for you at least 24 HOURS prior to the round deadline. This will be opened using the ITMOfficial Smule Account.
- Please screenshot the version of the song you want them to open and give it to them.
- You will also need to ask them to close your song, make it public and tell them what to add to the description (e.g. hashtags etc) BEFORE the deadline (we recommend at least 8hrs prior). This is YOUR responsibility! Failure to do so will result in penalties and in some cases disqualification.
- Please remember people are in different time zones, and we all have busy lives, so they may not respond immediately. If you have not heard from your Mentor or Head Judge/Admin after 24 hours please message someone else.
- DO NOT leave this to the last minute.

The following will result in automatic disqualification.
- Late submission
- Failure to submit
- Someone other than yourself joining your entry
- Submitting a song opened prior to the release date of the round.
- Submitting a song you have previously sung in an audition or round.
- Changing anything once the entry has been submitted
- Breaking the rules of the competition
- Adding anyone to any chat room
- Removing anyone from any chat room
- Posting notes/polls etc in any chat room
- Deleting any notes or images (other than your own) from the chat rooms.
- Changing the settings of any chatroom
- Submitting an Original Song.
- Leaving the main chat room.
- Repeatedly not following the rules of the chat room despite warnings.
If you choose to receive critique on your song/performance, please don’t take anything personally. Whether your critique is full of praise or constructive it is only meant to help you improve and to make you a better singer.
