This document will tell you everything you need to know for the Battledome Song. Ensure that you read it carefully before asking any questions. Make sure you also read all the rules as well.

Please pay careful attention to the submission and round criteria. Double check everything!

The Battledome brief remains the same for each round. Heroes MUST follow the criteria unless they have received a gift from the Capital.

You need to sing an original song by ANY Artist from ANY Genre. This performance must be a solo. Bring your best and sing your heart out – your life depends on it!

You may not sing on your clans group performance this week.

  • You MUST submit a song.
  • You may sing an original song by ANY Artist from ANY Genre
    • The Artist MUST have been the original singer
      • Covers are NOT ALLOWED
      • Alternative versions are NOT ALLOWED
      • Key Changes ALLOWED
  • LAYERS
    • Only 1 Layer is ALLOWED (You+0)
    • You are NOT ALLOWED to open from an official team account. If you are not a VIP user, your song MUST be opened by @ITMOfficial.
  • FX
    • None is ALLOWED
    • The following FX are NOT ALLOWED
      • Polish, Studio, SuperStudio FX, Opera SF, Spotlight
      • Pop Star, Pop FX, Super Pop FX, Magic, Stardust
      • Hype, Indie, Grunge, Double You
      • Any NEW FX Smule Decides to bring out!
  • Significant Lyric Changes are NOT ALLOWED
    • You may make small changes e.g. changing ‘she’ to ‘he’
  • Lyrical Additions, Acapella, Mashups & Medleys are NOT ALLOWED
  • Your song MUST be opened as a SOLO or a GROUP
  • Video entries are NOT ALLOWED
  • Your entry should be between 2 and 5 minutes long.
  • Language: ENGLISH Only
  • Backing Vocals on the backing track are NOT ALLOWED
    • This includes any sound made by a human voice, including sampled sounds that have been heavily processed.
    • If you are unsure, please ask your ward chaperone for verification.
  • You MAY upload your own backing track to the smule songbook.
  • You MUST use headphones.

PLEASE NOTE: No staff member can approve your chosen song’s theme is valid. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure your song fits the themes.

    1. You MUST submit BEFORE the DEADLINE
    2. COVER ART
      You MUST use the COVER ART provided in this round sheet. It will also be posted in the Battledome Album.
    3. HASHTAGS
      You must include 2 HASHTAGS in the description of your entry.
      The Round Hashtag #ITMTCSS1BDR3
      Your Team Hashtag
    4. VERIFICATION LINK
      You MUST include a verification link from a reputable website which states that the song that you have chosen was originally recorded by the artist. Wikipedia & Discogs are a good place to start.
      Example: CHOSEN SONG: ‘Angels’ by Robbie Williams https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angels_(Robbie_Williams_song)
      YOUTUBE LINKS are NOT acceptable
    5. CLOSED & PUBLIC
       Your entry MUST be closed and public prior to form submission.
    6. SUBMISSION FORM
      You MUST submit via this submission form

      You can check with the Battledome Mistress if you have successfully submitted.
    7. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING
      Once you have submitted you CANNOT CHANGE ANYTHING. If you do then you will be disqualified.
    8. LOCKING IN
       A member of the admin team will comment on your song once submitted to let you know that it has been accepted. Please be patient. If you submit with less than 24 hours left to go your song may not be commented on, but it will be considered locked from the point of submission.

It is not a requirement for this competition to have an active VIP status. If you are a non-vip user, please read the following information carefully.

  • You may ask a ward chaperone to open up to 3 practice songs for you to practice with.
  • When you are ready to record your final version you must message a Staff Member and ask them to open the chosen song for you at least 24 HOURS prior to the round deadline. This will be opened using the ITMOfficial Smule Account.
    • Please screenshot the version of the song you want them to open and give it to them.
    • You will also need to ask them to close your song, make it public and tell them what to add to the description (e.g. hashtags etc) BEFORE the deadline (we recommend at least 8hrs prior). This is YOUR responsibility! Failure to do so will result in penalties and in some cases disqualification.
    • Please remember people are in different time zones, and we all have busy lives, so they may not respond immediately. If you have not heard from your Mentor or Head Judge/Admin after 24 hours please message someone else.
  • DO NOT leave this to the last minute.

  • -1 win for not fulfilling any of the round criteria
  • -2 wins for not following any of the submission guidelines

The following will result in automatic disqualification.

  • Late submission
  • Failure to submit
  • Someone other than yourself joining your entry
  • Submitting a song opened prior to the release date of the round.
  • Submitting a song you have previously sung in an audition or round.
  • Changing anything once the entry has been submitted
  • Breaking the rules of the competition
  • Adding anyone to any chat room
  • Removing anyone from any chat room
  • Posting notes/polls etc in any chat room
  • Deleting any notes or images (other than your own) from the chat rooms.
  • Changing the settings of any chatroom
  • Submitting an Original Song.
  • Leaving the BATTLEDOME chat room.
  • Repeatedly not following the rules of the chat room despite warnings.
